At the Riverside Downtown Business Partnership Luncheon on January 28th, local business owners, city officials, and sustainability advocates gathered to learn about the benefits of green business certification through the California Green Business Network (CAGBN). The event was hosted by Palenque, one of the certifying green businesses. Sandrine Cassidy, Senior Sustainability Consultant, led the presentation with support from the City of Riverside Office of Sustainability. The event underscored how small businesses can cut costs, gain public recognition, and access resources to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and conserve water. The City has made this program free for its small businesses. With Earth Day 2025 as a milestone, attendees were encouraged to start their certification journey now.
