How Do I Get Certified?

Step 1

Register your business

Go to www.greenbusinessca.org and click on "Get Certified" to register your business. Begin filling out the checklist/self-assessment under 'My Checklist.'

Step 2

Complete the Checklist

Send an email to ContraCostaGreenBusiness@cchealth.org once you have completed the checklist.

Step 3

Schedule the site visit

Green Business Program staff will contact you to schedule a site visit to verify checklist information.

Step 4

Follow-up action items and audits

After the site visit you will be provided a write-up of action items and/or audits required for certification. If you have to make any purchases, you may be eligible for a $500 rebate.

Step 5

Get Certified!

Once outstanding action items and audits are complete, your certification will be processed! Your business will be listed on the green business directory and you will be given access to the green business logos to share the news of your certification. You will also be notified of any events or green business recognition events.

Step 6

Maintain your certification

In order to maintain green business certification, businesses will need to be recertified. The Green Business Progam will notify businesses when they are due for recertification.

Step 7

Have other locations outside of Contra Costa County?

As green business certification is location-specific, if you have other office locations outside of Contra Costa County, you can register the other locations at the California Green Business Network here: www.greenbusinessca.org. You will be contacted by a green business coordinator for that location (if there is a green business program in that area)!
