How Do I Get Certified?
Step 1
Registration
Starting is easy. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your company. Please make sure to fill out your business profile to the best of your ability since we use this for marketing purposes.
Step 2
Learn!
Set up a 1:1 meeting with the coordinator by contacting Kori at knielsen@environmentalin.com to learn about the checklists and how to meet program requirements. You can also watch our Green Business Academy to get an in-depth overview. Watch HERE.
Step 3
Flexible Fee Program
Our program is designed to support your sustainability journey while giving you the flexibility to reinvest in impactful actions.
Certification Fee: $300 (valid for 4 years).
- Reinvestment Opportunity: Use the fee to fund sustainability initiatives like energy upgrades or employee incentives.
- Flexible Projects: Projects must be new and started within the first year of certification.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Certain actions may qualify for funding from partners or business-to-business sponsors. Contact knielsen@environmentalin.com for questions or if you are interested in sponsoring another business. See here for our sponsor deck and here for our flyer.
Why?
- Accessible for small businesses.
- Impactful for larger businesses to lead by example.
- Promotes equity and meaningful action.
Get certified, make an impact, and let your fees work for you and the planet.
Step 4
Assessment
GBP staff and partners will go to your business to provide hands-on technical assistance in implementing required measures.
Step 5
Recognition
After attending the Green Academy and once GBP staff has verified that all assessments have been passed, you will be Certified!
You will receive a package of print and digital materials to help you promote your new Green status. Your business information will also be listed on the Santa Barbara and California Green Business directories.
All newly-certified businesses are invited to our celebratory event each year to showcase their accomplishments, meet other certified businesses, and network with the Green Business community.
If you are unsure whether or not you will be able to join us on these dates or commit to the overall time requirement, please contact us to discuss possibilities.
