Step 1

Registration

Starting is easy. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your company. Please make sure to fill out your business profile to the best of your ability since we use this for marketing purposes.

Step 2

Learn!

Set up a 1:1 meeting with the coordinator and/or watch our Green Business Academy where you will learn about the checklists and how to meet program requirements.

Step 3

Fees

Before beginning the certification process, your business will be required to pay a fee based on its sector and size. Fees generally range from $300 to $600 and are good for four years. Take a look at the table here to determine your fee. Check with us about discounts for multiple locations, or if you do not see your sector represented in the table. Fees can be paid by credit card online which the coordinator will send you.

Please note the fee covers the initial four-year certification period and is nonrefundable. If you are unable to complete the certification process within one year, you will have to reapply and pay another fee. Recertification fees are half the original certification fee. If you would like us to send you an invoice, let us know.

Step 4

Assessment

GBP staff and partners will go to your business to provide hands-on technical assistance in implementing required measures.

Step 5

Recognition

After attending the Green Academy and once GBP staff has verified that all assessments have been passed, you will be Certified!

You will receive a package of print and digital materials to help you promote your new Green status. Your business information will also be listed on the Santa Barbara and California Green Business directories.

All newly-certified businesses are invited to our celebratory event each year to showcase their accomplishments, meet other certified businesses, and network with the Green Business community.
